Packing List for Traveling Light

Hey, trying to travel cheap? With just a personal item? Yeah, same.

One thing I am stubborn about is not paying extra for bags. Especially in Europe the airlines are getting very strict with bags. I have gotten close to being caught, but never had to pay the oversized fee. I have a 45L backpack that has made it through over a month of backpacking in Thailand and Europe. Here’s a general list of everything I bring.

  • Backpack
  • Totebag
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Lock for hostel lockers
  • Rain poncho
  • Flip Flops
  • Tennis shoes/hiking boots (typically wear these on travel days)
  • Lightweight hiking pants
  • Long linen pants (possible to dress up or down)
  • 3 tank tops
  • Surong (beach or religious temple cover up)
  • 2 comfy shorts (double as pjs)
  • Oversized tshirt
  • Travel adapter
  • Portable charger
  • Small first aid kit/medicine
  • Liquids bag
  • Microfiber towel
  • Emergency cash
  • Purse (one that stays close to your person) keep any valuables near you always
  • Swimsuit (obvi)
