WORLDPACKERS 101:

Volunteering with worldpackers is the best way to elongate your travels. It is completely free to you for just a few hours a day of work. And the work is very easy. They offer a variety of different experiences. You could choose to stay for a few days or many months depending on your goals, budget, and timeframe. You may also choose the type of work and setting that best fits your personality. There are positions in social hostels to working in a rural farm. Some people enjoy a little party action and some want to spend time in a yoga retreat away from the commotion of traveling. No matter where you end up you will learn so much from the people you stay with. Some experiences you stay in a homestay environment and some with a bunch of other international travelers.

Some positions are under more demand so it helps to have many experiences under your belt to really catch the attention of the hosts. There are even positions that require a higher level of expertise such as media managers and videographers, or even artists for murals. So, it’s very individualized and open-ended what you might find.

Another reason that I would choose to stay with worldpackers is just to settle down in one place for a while. While you travel it’s pretty typical to move every third day or so. Which can get a bit exhausting and can lead to burnout. It’s an amazing feeling to be able to unpack your things for a few weeks. It also allows you to create stronger relationships with the people you are staying with. Instead of meeting new people everyday and saying your goodbyes the next. It gives you a sense of home and allows you to slow down and take in the surroundings.

So, there’s my two cents. I don’t have a code for y’all yet but I hope this helps and motivates you to get out there! It doesn’t have to be expensive to travel, you just need to find the right resources! And it doesn’t have to be scary going alone. These experiences are all reviewed and super safe and the people you meet along the way will be the most interesting and friendly souls.
